Motorola Droid or HTC Droid Incredible

by SmartPhone on May 12, 2010

If you are looking for a smart phone you might have been thinking about the Motorola Droid or the HTC Droid Incredible as possible options. Both phones are available through Verizon Wireless and come with the famous Android phone operating system. Both phones are very powerful, however the Droid Incredible is clearly better equipped in regards to CPU (SnapDragon) and memory. The Motorola Droid however offers a physical keyboard which quite a few users prefer. The Incredible “only” offers the virtual keyboard on the screen that is so common among many well known smart phones (including the iPhone).

Both phones roughly come at the same price when you buy them from Verizon. They require a $30 data plan on top of whatever phone plan you use. If you are looking for a lot of add-ons, be prepared to pay for them as there are almost none included. A charging cable and a wall plug for the charger cable are pretty much what you can expect. Speaking of add-ons. Definitely buy a screen protector and a hard case for you new smart phone. They break easily if dropped by accident and if they hit the ground in the wrong angle you crack the screen or the case easily.

The Droid Incredible is a little less heavy and less bulky compared to the Motorola Droid. However, the Moto Droid seems a little more solid and might even be able to handle rough handling a little more forgiving. The Incredible has the better screen resolution and the better touchpad. It is simply an amazing smart phone. The Droid Incredible puts the current Apple iPhone at shame, but this will probably not last for too long as Apple’s iPhone will get an update in June of this year.

Conclusion: This high level overview compares the Motorola Droid with the HTC Droid Incredible. Both smart phones are really powerful and are a great option for someone who does not want to move to the slow AT&T network and the locked in iPhone. Speaking of – while the iPhone has a ton of apps to choose from, you are tied to the iTunes Store and application to load and buy them. Apple controls the market and certain vendors might be disallowed. The Android Phone market is catching up fast in regards to absolute numbers though and is not restricted by a certain vendor.
