Yesterday Steve Jobs finally showed the new iPhone. Its top features are, of course, the extremely high resolution screen, video chat capability with Apple FaceTime, and the new super slim form factor. The new body form is a welcome change from the now really outdated looking iPhone 3 GS which was based on the original iPhone from 3 years ago.
The new iPhone is a few grams more heavier than the iPhone 3GS. This might be due to the new battery that in conjunction with the A4 processor promises extended phone usage. Steve Jobs now claims a 40% improvement in battery life due to the efficiency of the A4 processor plus the 16% larger new battery. The numbers mentioned are 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours 3G browsing, 10 hours Wi-Fi, 10 hours video, and up to 300 hours in standby mode.
The new main camera is a 5 megapixel camera and really means an improvement over the old one. A second camera allows for video-calls, however this is limited to iPhone-to-iPhone for now + only available over Wi-Fi.
