Today I was driving trying to find a shortcut to a specific store. We were at a graduation event for a friend who celebrated her graduation from a community college class. Once we left the community college we remembered that close by in a mall was a Lego Store. My wife was there before and remembered that they had great prices on Lego toys – much better than the other local toy stores or department stores + a better selection.
First we tried to find the way from the community college to the shopping mall “by hand”, but we got stuck in a residential neighborhood and since I am guy I cannot ask for help. Moments later I remembered that my Droid Incredible had GPS built-in as well as a navigation app that was shown in the car panel. I had not tried this yet and so the timing was perfect. I did not know the address, but only the name of the shopping mall. The Incredible had no problems finding the address. Then I hit the navigate button and boom – we were on our way. A friendly voice navigated us to where we wanted. While the driving instructions were 100% correct, I have the say the sound was Ok. I think the speaker just did not perform too well. I also have to get a car docking station for the Droid Incredible (one that comes with a car charger). My wife was holding up the phone so that I could see the screen while driving.
Still – this is my first navigation system usage of the Droid Incredible and it work perfectly. I have to find out what happens when I would drive out West where the service area of Verizon ends (in the desert between the border of Colorado and driving towards Moab in Utah). Will the GPS still work or does the phone need access to the Verizon Network as well to navigate properly? Please leave a comment if you know.
