A little over a week ago the Droid Incredible phone was released through Verizon Wireless. I bought the phone the same day it was available for purchase and I have to say I love this phone. I am still learning a few things, but slowly but surely it is customized to my needs and I am more familiar with the Android Operating System and the different apps.
I had 2 scary situations and luckily they turned out to be Ok. So, for one I really really recommend that you buy screen protectors. I had the first one put on in the Verizon Store and it saved the phone from being scratched when my son dropped the phone. A long scratch on the protector showed how important it was to have it. I replaced the screen protector and all was good. The second incident happened yesterday evening. I did buy a phone belt holster and picked the one from Verizon as it also came with a hard case for the phone. The hard case protects the edges and corners and the backside. It also sticks over the front just a tiny little bit. Somebody bumped into me and I do not know how it happened but the phone was pushed out of the holster and fell down. The hard case saved the phone for sure. So, these 2 investments are definitely worth the money and I highly recommend you buy both of these accessories for any smart phone.
The battery life is not as good as it was for my old phone, but overall I can go roughly 2 days without recharging it. If I am playing with a lot of apps (install/uninstall/testing) battery life goes down faster, but once the phone is configured and you got the apps you need this should not be an issue. For the occasional phone call, a tweet, using the Google Reader for RSS feeds, and other stuff like that the battery life is fine.
The music player is nice and I have roughly 2 GB of songs loaded on an external microSD card. The sound is really good and I often put the phone down on the kitchen island in my house and let the music play while I cook dinner or so. That is one feature I used a lot on my old phone as well and is pretty much a requirement for any phone for me.
Conclusion: I love the Droid Incredible Smart Phone. I moved up from a regular phone with no web access and so it is an interesting experience. The Incredible is a little bigger in size and that requires a change in how I carry phone (holster now – pocket before), but other than that I am impressed with the phone. Verizon’s network speed is good and the phone’s CPU and Memory allow for a speedy experience.
